Introduction

Seplos (Shenzhen Seplos Technology Co., Ltd.) is a Chinese energy storage battery manufacturer founded in 2017, specializing in BESS systems and prismatic LiFePO4 cells. The brand’s defining identity is its global DIY community. Seplos is best known for the Mason 280: a 14.3 kWh low-voltage battery kit that allows users to self-assemble from individual cells, exported to more than 180 countries. This is not a turnkey packaged battery like BYD or Pylontech, but an open BMS platform designed for technically capable users.

History & Scale

Founded in 2017 in Shenzhen, Seplos built a 9,800 m² factory focused on prismatic LiFePO4 cells, smart BMS, and solar energy kits. The company drives sales through direct-to-consumer channels via its website and Alibaba, cultivating an especially large self-build community (off-grid and hybrid) in Europe and North America, with ongoing expansion into Southeast Asia. The kit-based sales model reduces upfront costs but demands assembly and testing competence from the user.

Core Technology

The Mason 280 is built from 16 LiFePO4 280 Ah cells (or 314 Ah in the newer Mason 3.0 version) assembled into a 51.2 V pack delivering ~14.3 kWh nominal. The Seplos BMS 3.0 integrates a 16S 200 A active balancer and supports CAN/RS485 communication. DoD reaches 95% in normal operation, one of the highest utilization ratios in the low-voltage segment. Critically, Mason is an assembly kit, not a factory-tested finished battery: assemblers must balance cells, validate BMS operation, and follow safety procedures in accordance with standard 03-05.

Product Lineup

The flagship line widely available in Vietnam is the Mason 280: see the specification table above. Seplos also offers the Mason 280L (vertical tower format), Mason 314 (314 Ah cells), a 19” rack series, and HV systems for commercial applications, all following the same open-kit philosophy. When selecting a variant, clearly identify the cell capacity (280 Ah or 314 Ah) and BMS version (2.0 or 3.0), as cycle ratings and communication interfaces differ between versions.

Positioning in Vietnam

The Seplos Mason is suited to off-grid and hybrid systems for self-building technicians or experienced installation teams seeking high per-module capacity (14.3 kWh) at a lower entry cost. It is not appropriate for general consumers without an electrical background: qualified technical personnel must supervise assembly and commissioning. The IP20 rating requires indoor installation in a ventilated cabinet or technical room.
