Pylontech

Introduction

Pylontech is the most widely used open-brand battery in Vietnam: the brand name is sometimes used as a generic term when advising on residential energy storage. Founded in 2009 in Shanghai, Pylontech specializes in LiFePO4 batteries that are not tied to any single inverter brand; instead, the company publishes an open compatibility list covering dozens of inverter manufacturers. The brand has two entirely distinct families: US (low voltage) and Force (high voltage). These must never be mixed.

History & Scale

Pylontech focused on residential energy storage from its earliest years, building its reputation through stable products and a wide inverter compatibility network. The US line has been upgraded through successive generations (US2000, US3000, US5000), and the US5000 is now the reference-standard module for single-phase residential systems in Vietnam. The company listed on the STAR Market (Shanghai) in 2021.

Core Technology

The US5000 is a low-voltage 48 V battery: a single module of 16 LFP cells with a rated capacity of 4.8 kWh (4.56 kWh usable at 95 % DoD), expandable by connecting up to 16 modules in parallel for a total of 76.8 kWh. It is designed for single-phase hybrid inverters with a low-voltage battery port. The Force H2 is a high-voltage 96 V/module battery, stacked in towers of 2–4 modules to deliver 7.1–14.2 kWh with a tower voltage of up to ~384 V, intended for three-phase inverters with an HV battery port. The two families use different BMS architectures and communication protocols: they cannot be mixed within the same system.

Product Lineup

The US5000 is the flagship model for single-phase residential and small commercial installations, scalable in flexible increments of 4.8 kWh per module. The Force H2 serves three-phase commercial systems that require an HV battery bus. Pylontech also offers older US-series products (US2000, US3000), but these are gradually being superseded by the US5000.

Positioning in Vietnam

Pylontech is the default safe choice when a customer wants an open-brand low-voltage battery for a single-phase system: supply is abundant, replacement parts are readily available, and the vast majority of technicians are already familiar with its configuration. The brand suits customers who want the flexibility to select their inverter independently of their battery and to optimize costs component by component.
